Afghan coach banned for five years
The Afghanistan Cricket Board ACB has banned Afghan assistant coach Noor Mohammad for five years over allegations of corruption in domestic cricket. The anti-corruption unit of the ACB had brought charges against him for violating four anti-corruption sections.
Nur has even accepted the four allegations brought against him. The ACB said, “Noor has violated the anti-corruption clause and has been banned. In 2019, he persuaded a national team cricketer to do spot-fixing in several matches in the Shapagiza Cricket League. Nur has accepted all the allegations brought against him. He also assisted in the investigation of the ACB. As a result, his punishment has been reduced a lot. The maximum punishment for this crime is life ban.
Syed Anwar Shah Quraishi, the ACB’s anti-corruption officer, praised the complaining cricketer. He thinks that without the cooperation of that cricketer, the investigation of this incident would not have been possible.
The anti-corruption official believes that the cricketer has shown signs of professionalism by rejecting the fixing offer and quickly informing the ACB about the fixing offer.
