Azhar Mahmood has been appointed as England coaching staff

England will take the help of a former Pakistan all-rounder and bowling coach to beat Pakistan in the T20 series. Azhar Mahmood has been appointed to the England coaching staff for this series.

The Pakistan cricket team is currently in England to play Test and T20 series. The two teams have already played two Test matches. One of which was a draw and the other was won by host England. Meanwhile, England is busy with T20.

Many changes have been made to the regular coaching staff of England for this T20 series. Azhar will work as an assistant to bowling coach John Lewis.

Azhar has played 21 Tests and 143 ODIs for Pakistan. The former pace bowling all-rounder has also spent significant time in the coaching career in the Pakistan team. He has been the bowling coach of the national team for three years since 2016. Pakistan’s board has not renewed his contract since last year’s World Cup. This time he will be seen in the opponent’s camp. Azhar, who has played county cricket for Surrey and Kent for a long time, also has a British passport.

The board has rested head coach Chris Silverwood for this T20 series. He will be replaced by assistant coach Graham Thorpe. Another former England batsman Paul Collingwood will be Thorpe’s assistant in the series.

Former opener Marcus Trescothick has been appointed as the batting coach for the series. Former wicketkeeper James Foster will act as the wicketkeeping coach. Foster was the head coach of Runners Up Khulna Tigers in the last BPL, and in his previous BPL, he was the assistant coach of Khulna Titans.
