The series will be held as part of the ICC World Test Championship. A three-match T20 series between the two teams is also likely to be held during the tour. However, it has not been finalized yet.

On the other hand, the HP team will play two three-day matches and five one-day matches against the hosts. A meeting of the BCB was held at the Home of Cricket in Mirpur today to discuss the beginning and end of the upcoming tour.

The meeting was attended by BCB director and HP chief MP Naimur Rahman Durjoy, cricket operations chairman Akram Khan, chief selector Minhazul Abedin Nannu, selector Habibul Bashar Sumon and chief executive officer (CEO) Nizamuddin Chowdhury, among others.

Later, Durjoy told reporters, “On September 23, the national and HP teams will leave Bangladesh for Sri Lanka together.”

Not all cricketers will be tested twice before leaving the country. Those identified as positive will be dropped from the squad. The national and HP team camps may start on September 10.

“It’s great for us to be able to play a three-match Test series on any tour,” he said. But the fear for us is that we have not been able to play any cricket for the last five or six months. We have a plan for this. I hope to implement it properly. Every effort will be made for the team.

Akram further said that the BCB will bear the expenses of the HP team at the beginning of the tour of Sri Lanka. However, when they start their game, the host country will bear all their expenses. At the end of the tour of Sri Lanka, both the national and HP teams will return to the country together.

He told Dhaka-based TV channel Mashranga, ‘Bangladesh will leave the country on September 24, it is almost certain. The itinerary is fairly certain, but it will take us a few days to finalize it. We are actually still discussing. BCB wants to play three T20s with three Tests. We actually want to play one Test less, then talk about playing T20. We will be able to finalize it in 2-1 days.
