England tours of India 2020 Postponed
According to the ICC’s Future Tour Program (FTP), the England cricket team was scheduled to tour India in September this year to play a three-match T20 and three-match ODI series. But it is not happening now. England Tours of India 2020 has been postponed indefinitely with the consent of the BCCI and the ECB.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the matter in a press release on Friday (August 8th).
The series has been postponed due to unfavorable conditions in Corona, India. The BCCI is set to host the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on UAE soil as cricket is not possible on Indian soil due to Corona. India will host the IPL in the England series schedule. The IPL will start on September 19 this year. The final will be held on November 10.
The tour was originally considered a preparation for the T20 World Cup in Australia. But the tour has been postponed due to Corona’s one-year delay in the World Cup and India’s epidemic. The five-match Test series against India is scheduled for January to March 2021. Board officials from England and India have discussed the Indian tour of England at the end of January or March.
“The India-England series is an interesting match in the international schedule and we will do our best to schedule the series as soon as possible in consultation with the BCCI,” said Tom Harrison, chief executive of the ECB.
BCCI Secretary Joy Saha said, “I am satisfied with the way the BCCI and the ECB have handled the current situation. Discussions are underway to re-organize the series in red and white format.
In July, England returned to cricket at home with a bio-protection environment and a closed stadium. The ECB hosted a three-match Test series against the West Indies. They have also completed a three-match ODI series against Ireland. England is now playing a three-match Test series against Pakistan.
