Ian Bell announced his retirement

Bell has scored 31,300 runs in 311 first-class matches so far. In first-class cricket, he has scored 103 fifties as well as 56 centuries. He has played 317 matches in his List A career with 13 centuries and 11130 runs in 69 fifties. He has played 108 T20s, 1 century, and 2690 runs in 18 fifties.
Tomorrow I will play my last match called red, next week I will play my last T20 match. It is true when everyone says you know the right time. Sadly in my case, that’s right now. My appetite, enthusiasm, and love for the game are the same. However, according to the standard of the game, I do not maintain what I expect from my body.
My childhood dream – to be able to play for England and Warwickshire. Playing just one match for two teams was a lot for me when I was younger. But what I have done in the last 22 years, I could not even dream.
For a young man who only dreamed of batting at Edgbaston, being part of the England Test team, being number one in the world, winning five Ashes, winning the series in one of them, winning the away series in India is a lot.
I consider myself lucky for a variety of reasons. But I am grateful to those with whom I have been able to share these experiences.
I am very lucky to have shared the dressing room with some people who are not only the best players in the world but also the best people.
Having spent my entire career at the club level, winning trophies makes me and my family proud. Thanks to all the staff I have worked with, including the club staff, cricketers, supporters.
I recently extended my contract with the club. But I can’t disrespect the club for not playing at the level they deserve. Farby, Stuart, and the whole team were very respectful of my decision and I am grateful for their support.
