ICC releases list of best cricketers of the decade

The ICC releases list of the best cricketers of the decade. The winning cricketer will be selected from this list by voting. Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara, who retired from the 2015 World Cup, has been named in the preliminary list of the best cricketers of the decade. Also present is former Proteas cricketer AB de Villiers. Current Indian captain Virat Kohli is also on the list.

The ICC has nominated male cricketers in a total of five categories. There are also separate categories for women.

ICC Nominees for the best Cricketers of the decade 

Cricketers of the Decade:

Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin (India), Joe Root (England), Ken Williamson (New Zealand), Steve Smith (Australia), AB de Villiers (South Africa) and Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka).

The best Test cricketers of the decade:

Virat Kohli (India), Joe Root and James Anderson (England), Ken Williamson (New Zealand), Steve Smith (Australia), Rangana Herath (Sri Lanka) and Yasir Shah (Pakistan).

The best ODI cricketers of the decade:

Virat Kohli, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rohit Sharma (India), Kumar Sangakkara and Lasith Malinga (Sri Lanka), Mitchell Starc (Australia), and AB de Villiers (South Africa).

The best T20 cricketers of the decade:

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma (India), Chris Gayle (West Indies), Aaron Finch (Australia), Imran Tahir (South Africa), and Rashid Khan (Afghanistan).

ICC Spirit of Cricket Award:

Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Brendon McCullum, Misbah-ul-Haq, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Anya Shrubsol, Katherine Brant, Mahela Jayawardene, Daniel Vettori.

ICC Best women cricketers of the decade 

Australia’s Alyssa Perry-Meg Lanning, New Zealand’s Suzy Bates, West Indies’ Stefano Taylor, India’s Mitali Raj, and England’s Sarah Taylor are on the list of the best women cricketers of the decade.
