Imam-ul-Haq used to cry for hours
Pakistan’s left-arm opener Imam-ul-Haq has been performing well since he got the opportunity in the national team. But sometimes he has to listen when he plays two or one matches badly. It is often heard that the former star cricketer and his uncle Inzamam-ul-Haq got a place in the team.
He cannot accept such sarcasm of people. The Pakistani opener Imam-ul-Haq used to cry for hours because he could not bear these words. In a recent interview with ESPN Cricinfo, he expressed his grief.
He said, ‘During the inaugural series, we had to listen to various harsh words and allegations of nepotism. I was devastated. Kistu never reported the problem to the family. On my first visit, there were allegations of nepotism. Then I had to eat alone. Whenever I picked up my mobile phone, I would see people tagging me on social media and talking nonsense. But even then, I did not get a chance to play a match for the team.
He added: ‘I was shocked and didn’t understand anything. It is difficult to explain how much pressure I was under then. Because if you have to listen to this before the inauguration, then what will happen later? ‘ I remember going to the shower and crying for hours and thinking, I haven’t played a match yet, and that’s all there is to it! There was a kind of distrust in oneself. Fear entered my mind that if I can’t perform after getting a chance in the team? My career will end first. ‘
So far, he has played 36 ODIs for Pakistan. Where he has scored 1623 runs in 6 centuries and six fifties at an average of 54, he is currently in England with the Pakistan team to play a series against England.
