Independent judge reserves decision on Umar Akmal's appeal against ban

Former Supreme Court Justice Mr Justice (retired) Faqir Muhammad Khokhar, acting as an independent judge, has reserved his decision on Umar Akmal’s appeal after hearing arguments from both sides today.

Umar’s lawyer, Mr. Tayyab Rizvi, is confident that they will receive justice when they appealed against the three-year ban.

“We are confident and hopefully we will get justice against the ban,” Rizvi said as he spoke to the media after the hearing.

It should be noted that on April 27, the Chairman of the Disciplinary Panel, Mr. Justice (retired) Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan, had banned Umar Akmal for three years after finding him guilty of violating Article 2.4.4 of the Anti-PCB – Corruption code in two separate incidents which is why independent judge reserves decision on Umar Akmal’s appeal against the ban.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to comment on the matter until the decision is made public.
