India reduced the number of Test matches against England
The England cricket team will tour India to play the full series in February-March 2021. Initially, there were five Test matches on this tour, however, India reduced the number of test matches and increased the number of T20 against England. Two additional T20 matches have been added instead. The change in the schedule has been confirmed by Indian Cricket Board chief Sourav Ganguly. This change has been made keeping in mind the T20 World Cup to be held next year. As a result, there are now four Tests, three ODIs, and five T20I matches in the full series.
However, the series was originally in September this year. Where England was supposed to go to India to play three ODIs and T20s. But due to the situation, the tour of England was canceled due to the uncertainty of the T20 World Cup from October-November on Australian soil.
The English will now tour India to play a total of 12 matches in February. In a virtual event, BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly said, “The England cricket team will tour India to play four Tests, three ODIs and five T20s. It is easier to organize a bilateral series than to have a tournament with eight, nine, or ten teams.
“Many are warning of the second wave of epidemics,” Ganguly said of the current situation in welcoming England home. We have already heard that infections have increased in Mumbai and Delhi. So we have to be careful to end everything well.
