Mohammad Amir To Play in CPL For The First Time

Former Pakistan fast bowler Amir is a regular face in franchise cricket despite retiring from international cricket. Mohammad Amir will play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2021) for the first time in his career. Mohammad Amir has signed for Barbados Tridents in the 9th edition of CPL. Also experienced all-rounder Shoaib Malik will play Guyana Amazon Warriors.

The 9th edition of CPL is scheduled to start on August 28 this year. All matches of the tournament will be held in St. Kitts and Nevis. Mohammad Amir will play for two-time CPL champions Barbados Tridents there. The CPL authorities have confirmed this information on their own official Twitter.

Mohammad Amir has played in almost all the franchise leagues in the world except the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has taken 220 wickets at an average of 22.50 in 190 Twenty20 matches in his career. Although he has played in various franchise leagues throughout his career, this is his first time playing in the CPL.

Apart from Amir, his compatriot Shoaib Malik has also got a CPL team. He will play Amazon Warriors. Nepali leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichane will also play in the CPL. He will play for the Trincomalee Knight Riders. Sandeep is a regular face in the Caribbean Premier League. He also has experience playing in IPL, Big Bash, BPL.
