Most Underrated but Incredible Games of 2020 that went Unnoticed

Since the beginning of the pandemic, it seems that it was all a single month with no forecast of ending. With so much going on, we end up letting that incredible game go unnoticed. I have prepared a list of the most incredible and most underrated games of 2020 that everyone needs to know! From independent games to big names that launched at the wrong time, discover games that can improve your 2021.

Most Underrated and Unnoticed Games of 2020

1. What The Golf?

What The Golf is many things, but none of them is the serene golf experience you could imagine. In reality, expect from this game something much more at the level of Untitled Goose Game: clown after clown. In a good way, of course.

With each new phase, you never know what’s coming! What if a golf ball hits the person for a change? Have you ever imagined a shy flag that changes places when you get close? The madness here has no end, for our joy. And there is still a way for one more player, bringing a touch of the social experience that so marked 2020.

2. Immortals:Fenyx Rising

When it was announced, still under the name Gods & Monsters, this adorable game from Ubisoft impressed everyone as a new approach to the ideas of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild by the hands of the most experienced company in open-world today.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising delivered just that and more when it debuted at the end of the year, but ended up overshadowed by both its brother Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and the controversial postponement of Cyberpunk 2077. It hasn’t been talked about as much as it should have, but if you liked Breath of the Wild, you can’t miss this game!

3. Superliminal

This is probably one of the smartest games released in the past year. Superliminal challenges you to rethink everything you know about perspective. Do you know when you take a photo very close and things look giant? It is this same principle that guides the gameplay of this indie game.

If things seem, they are. Take everything you already know about games like Portal and mix with the irreverence of Stanley’s Parable that you will get a sense of what awaits you in Superliminal. You need to play to really understand.

4. Battletoads

Fans of the old ones are always bothering Microsoft to revive the franchises of Rare – a studio that became popular for creating exclusive Nintendo 64 games. His prayers were finally answered in 2020, but the game was released so out of nowhere that many people missed it.

The new Battletoads is a modernized version of the classic beating games that have been so successful in arcades and the Super Nintendo. The new art direction allows dear frogs to be increasingly expressive and insane, as the original game wanted to be. This is one of those perfect games to get people on the couch and punch enemies until you don’t want to. Now you have something to play as soon as the vaccine comes out!

5. Spiritfarer

Unfortunately, in 2020 it was impossible not to face the concept of death. Even though it is an inevitable part of the life cycle, it is undeniable that the end brings very powerful and usually negative emotions. Spiritfarer came with the noble mission of trying to bring some peace in the midst of so much pain.

This adorable indie game has the sensitivity to touch even the coldest hearts, thanks to an incredible soundtrack, charismatic characters, and a very competent art direction. If you like Animal Crossing and are looking for a more emotional experience, Spiritfarer is for you!

6. Sackboy: A Great Adventure

The launch of the PlayStation 5 was a highly anticipated moment in 2020, even though most of us don’t even have the money to buy it yet. Much was said about its more realistic titles that best showed the technical power of the console, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Moralez and Demon’s Souls. But who remembers the incredible Sackboy: A Great Adventure?

It seems that finally, its creators decided between Little and Big, in what is the biggest adventure of the most adored bag of rags in the world of games. The new game is packed with music, creative levels, and lots of exciting news that show all the creative power of PlayStation 5. Sackboy has conquered the Legion and can conquer you!

7. Ikenfell

Ikenfell is the result of years of hard work by basically one person, Chevy Ray. He wanted to create an RPG that brought the magic of Harry Potter films, with a dynamic combat system and the same charm as Steven Universe. And he did it: Ikenfell is one of the most pleasant experiences I had in 2020.

The combat is very difficult, but in a fair way that forces you to use all the tricks in your arsenal. Do you know those RPG games that you accumulate items waiting to use that difficult boss and never use? Here you will need to give your all at all times. And for Steven Universe fans there is one more surprise: the main melodies of the game were composed by Aivi Surasshu, composers of the cartoon.

8. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition

Who says that Nintendo only knows how to make Mario is because it does not know Xenoblade Chronicles. This is already the third version of the game, but only now has it finally received a game worthy of all its glory. After going through Wii and Nintendo 3DS, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition shows all the graphic power hidden in the Switch.

The mythology of this game is surprising. One of the best RPGs ever created, but it never got all the attention it deserves. The world of Xenoblade is always changing thanks to the bonds you build with your residents. And the story is also immense, but it never tires. Xenoblade presents a fantasy world that you won’t want to leave.

9. Doom Eternal

March 20 was marked by the launch of a highly anticipated game that dominated the internet for months… and Doom Eternal. Difficult to compete for attention with the deafening success of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the most beloved game of the beginning of the pandemic. Even if it doesn’t match the rival in popularity, Doom Eternal is just as incredible.

Bethesda’s new adventure takes advantage of everything that was good about the previous title and raises it to the maximum level. The combat is even more bloody, the enemies are getting smarter and the action is always frantic. Whoever played it couldn’t stop talking about it for weeks. I think it’s a great indication that you should at least give it a try.

Conclusion

Here above we have enlisted the most incredible games that remain unnoticed in 2020. Would You like to play all the underrated games of 2020 in 2021?
