Patanjali is interested in becoming the title sponsor of the IPL 2020
Vivo, a Chinese mobile phone maker, has withdrawn from the IPL title sponsor due to the Indo-China border clash. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that Vivo has moved to a new title sponsor. According to the Economic Times, yoga guru Ramdev’s company Patanjali is interested in becoming the title sponsor of the IPL 2020.
Patanjali’s spokesperson SK Tijarawala told the Economic Times, “We will try to get IPL title sponsorship this year. Because we want to give the Patanjali brand a global marketing platform.
Apart from Patanjali, companies like Geo, Amazon, Tata Group, Dream 11 and Baiju are in the running for the IPL title sponsorship after Vivo’s departure. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said it would not be a good idea to see Vivo’s departure as the IPL’s title sponsor as a financial crisis.
Regarding Vivo’s departure, Sourav said, “There was no financial crisis. We are professionally prepared enough to handle such incidents. All avenues are open to us. Plan A and Plan B we are always ready. Any intelligent person, big brand, the corporate body does that. ‘
He further said, ‘BCCI is a very strong organization. Its game, its players, and its administrators have long made the BCCI very strong. We are ready to deal with such incidents for him.
The BCCI is going to host the IPL due to the postponement of the T20 World Cup in Australia. India will host the IPL on UAE soil as the Corona situation in India is not favorable. The IPL will start on September 19 this year. The final will be held on November 10.
