According to the previous schedule, the 2021 Twenty20 World Cup was to be held in India. That Twenty20 World Cup will be in 2022. The ICC has also postponed the 2023 ODI World Cup. The ODI World Cup was scheduled to take place on Indian soil in February-March. According to the changed schedule, the World Cup will be held at the end of 2023.

According to media reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board wants to have a Pakistan Super League at that time. That is why PCB chief Ehsan Mani requested that the ODI World Cup be shifted from February-March to October-November. In the end, the ICC responded to his request.
