Usman Khawaja Disappointed Not Able To Play in Pakistan
The Pakistan Super League (PSL 2021) is starting soon. Usman Khawaja, an Aussie cricketer of Pakistani origin, is playing for Islamabad United in this year’s PSL. He was looking to play in his native Pakistan, but Usman Khawaja is disappointed not able to play PSL 2021 in Pakistan due to the coronavirus.
The rest of the PSL is in Abu Dhabi. Khwaja is already in quarantine to take part in the league. In an interview with Cricket Pakistan, Khwaja said he would have been happier if he could have played on Pakistani soil.
Usman Khawaja said, ‘I am looking forward to playing in PSL. But it would have been nice to play on Pakistani soil. Somewhat disappointed that the league is not in Pakistan. However, cricket is returning to the field. Yes, I repeat, it would have been better if I had been in Pakistan. ‘
The 34-year-old cricketer is playing for Islamabad United in this year’s PSL. Khwaja said he was born in Islamabad, Pakistan.
In this context, he said, ‘Everyone in my family used to live in Karachi. Then 1-2 years before my birth, everyone moved to Islamabad. I was born in Islamabad. It’s great to be able to play for Islamabad. As far back as I can remember, I last visited Pakistan 10-11 years ago. ‘
Usman Khawaja also praised Pakistan’s batsman Babar Azam. Khwaja thinks that the continuity of Babar Azam has brought him so far. At the same time, Khwaja said that he enjoyed the batting of Babar Azam very much. However, he said he did not want to see Babar Azam play well against Islamabad.
