West Indies head coach in self-isolation

West Indies head coach Phil Simmons attended a funeral since then he has kept himself in self-isolation. Caribbean pacer Aljhari Joseph said the move did not hamper the team’s preparations.

Phil Simmons went to a funeral on Friday. Since then he has been in self-isolation at his hotel in Old Trafford. He will have to prove negative in the Corona Test to rejoin the team.

“It will not hamper our preparations,” pacer Aljhari Joseph told the media on Saturday. We are doing our job. We have a great and great coaching staff who are very supportive. So the temporary absence of Phil Simmons is not having a big impact.

Assistant coaches Roddy Atwick and Rayon Griffith will oversee the team’s second warm-up match. This match will start on Monday. The three-match Test series against hosts England starts on July 6 in Southampton.
