ZIM vs AUS 2022: Zimbabwe Historic Win Against Australia in 3rd ODI Match of the Series
Australia had already clinched the series after winning the first two One-Day Internationals. Coming to the 3rd and the last match of the ODI series 2022, Zimbabwe won their first ODI on Australian soil against Australia.
Australia was dismissed for 141 when he was bowled by Ryan Barle’s spin vortex. In their second innings run chase, Zimbabwe lost seven wickets but ultimately completed the goal with 66 balls remaining.
Ryan Barle took five wickets with only three overs remaining. The Australian batting line was reduced to 141 runs, despite David Warner’s 94 runs. By three wickets, Regis Chakavar’s squad achieved a historic victory. And with that, Zimbabwe earned its first victory against Australia in Australia.
Earlier today, Zimbabwe skipper Regis Chakava won the toss in Townsville and sent Australia in to bat. With the exception of David Warner’s 94 and Maxwell’s 19, no one reached double figures. Warner batted alone for Australia on a dismal day with the bat.
Ryan Burle’s poisonous spin rendered the hosts blue. In only 10 runs, he got five wickets over the course of three overs! Glenn Maxwell, Ashton Agar, David Warner, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood were dismissed one by one by Burl. This is the greatest bowling average in his whole cricket career, including ODIs and Internationals.
Australia’s innings ended at 141 runs, as they were unable to play more than 31 overs. If Zimbabwe is able to reach the little objective, it will create history. The two openers began the batting pretty effectively.
However, the opener Caitano grabbed a catch from Josh Hazlewood and returned for 19 runs, breaking the 38-run opening partnership. Today, Wesley Madhevere, who was out at number three, failed with the bat (2). In this over, Hazlewood picked up his third wicket. Shaun Williams left with nothing.
Sikandar Raja attempted to relax on the wicket by observing and listening. When Raja returned to the pavilion after scoring 8 runs off 19 balls, Zimbabwe’s total was 66/4. Marumani was unable to extend the innings as the opener. Cameron Green was the victim, and he left the game with 35 runs.
Regis Chakava, the captain, and Tony Munyonga thereafter continued to create a partnership. Ashton Agger bowled out Munyonga. His bat produced 17 runs before returning. Regis Chakava clinched the victory for the undefeated squad in the end.
Played 72 balls with the assistance of 3 fours without losing 37 runs. Ryan Berl drove in eleven runs. Zimbabwe triumphed by three wickets with 66 balls remaining. Despite Zimbabwe winning the 3rd ODI match, Australia won the series by a score of 2-1.
