Zimbabwe Tours of Afghanistan 2020 Series Cancelled
According to the ICC’s Future Tour Program (FTP), Afghanistan was scheduled to play a five-match T20 series this month. However, the Zimbabwe tours of Afghanistan 2020 T20 series has been cancelled due to the deadly coronavirus.
Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) officially announced the cancellation of the series on Saturday (August 6th) due to the rising incidence of Covid-19 disease in Zimbabwe. The ZC did not get permission from the government to host the series due to Corona’s predicament. So they decided not to host the T20 series against Afghanistan.
Gilmore Makoni, acting managing director of ZC, said: “The board has requested the government to organize the series in a safe and controlled environment. But the government did not allow us as the number of people affected by the epidemic increased.
The Zimbabwe cricket team was also scheduled to play a three-match ODI series against India at home this month. However, it was postponed in June. In addition, Zimbabwe was scheduled to tour Australia this month after 16 years for a three-match ODI series. That too has been postponed due to Corona.
