Former Australian Test Captain Tim Paine Retired From Cricket

Former Australian test captain Tim Paine retired from cricket, he announced his retirement from cricket after a match in Tasmania without announcing anything beforehand.

Paine served Australia from 2018 to 2021 after Steve Smith was removed as captain following a ball-tampering incident in a Test in South Africa. Smith led Australia in 23 Tests. Australia won 11, lost 8, and drew 4 under him. In 2017, Payne sent offensive messages and photos to a female colleague at Tasmania Cricket. At that time, the incident was covered up, but in 2021, everything came to light.

Paine was dropped from the Australian team due to allegations of a sex scandal. He returned to domestic cricket in 2022 after almost a year. Payne played his last first-class match for Tasmania in a home match against Queensland on Friday (March 17). A guard of honor is given at the end of the match.

“An inspirational captain, one of our greatest glovesmen and a legend of Tasmanian and Australian cricket,” the Tasmanian Tigers said in a statement. Congratulations to Tim Payne on a truly wonderful career.” Tim Paine scored 1535 runs in 35 Tests, 890 runs in 35 ODIs, and 82 runs in 12 T20Is for Australia.
