Although they do not deal specifically with the chess theme, they work with elements and aesthetics very similar to the success of Netflix.
Queen’s Gambit Like Series You Need to Watch
The Queen’s Gambit series takes place between the 1950s and 1960s and, therefore, has a unique atmosphere, which is composed of the thriller that made it extremely popular.
1. The Crown
This lavish Netflix drama is about royalty, but the luxurious wardrobe isn’t the only thing the series has in common with The Queen Gambit. The early seasons span the same period in the 1950s and 1960s.
Most importantly, The Crown also portrays the internal conflicts of women in power, just as the chess miniseries captures Beth’s inner world.
2 – Godless
Scott Frank, co-creator of The Queen’s Gambit, previously worked on Godless with none other than Thomas Brodie-Sangster, also known as the chess cowboy Benny Watts.
The series, a true Western drama, follows an outlaw criminal as he seeks out a student who has become a traitor and now lives in a quiet city with only women.
3. Peaky Blinders
Bold and bold as The Queen Gambit, the Peaky Blinders series focuses on the misadventures of the English family of gangs Shelby. It is inspired by the real group of which reference series. In addition, actress Anya Taylor-Joy, who plays Beth, also plays Gina Gray in season five.
4. Mrs. America

A touch more colorful than The Queens Gambit, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel series portrays a family struggle through Rachel Brosnahan’s character, Midge Maisel, a 50s housewife and mother who persists in her comedy flair.
7 – Mad Men
Looking for those discreet and moody period drama vibes? Mad Men is the classic you are looking for. The series follows a team of morally ambiguous executives at an advertising agency in the 1960s.
Like Beth, characters Peggy Olson and Joan Holloway can probably attest to what it’s like to be a woman in a male-dominated world.
